"Sixteen-year-old Atonement star Saoirse Ronan has wowed cast members and film critics with her latest role in new movie, The Way Back, directed by Peter Weir.

Co-star Ed Harris said: "She's really present, I felt really grounded with her".

The young actress has matured a lot since appearing alongside Keira Knightley in the wartime drama Atonement in 2007.

Ronan said: "I do look out for challenging roles, I always want to do things that scare me a little bit and test me. I don't want everything to be just handed to me on a plate."

The film also stars Colin Farrell and is released in the UK on 26 December [2010]."
